PMI® has developed new projectmanagement standards, which they published in A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) and which has been approved by the American National StandardsInstitute (ANSI).

What is the PMP® Certification?

The Project Management Institute sponsors a project management certification program: The Project Management Professional (PMP®) Program.

The PMP® Programsupports the international community of project management professionals and is designedto objectively assess and measure professional knowledge. PMP® program requirements and eligibility standards are applied fairly, impartially and consistent with applicable laws.

To achieve PMP® certification, each candidate must satisfy all educational and experiential requirements established by PMI® and must demonstrate an acceptable and valid level of understanding and knowledge about project management that is tested by the Project Management Professional Certification Examination.

What is a Professional Development Unit (PDU)?

Those who have been granted the PMP® credential (certificants) must demonstrate on going professional commitment to the field of project management by satisfying Professional Development Program requirements to maintain certification status.

The measuring unit used to quantify approved learning is called Professional Development Unit (PDU).
